Graduate Assistant

If interested in serving as the Graduate Intern for academic year 2019-2020, please contact our team. This is an unpaid internship. Graduate students will need to work directly with their department to receive credit.

The Graduate Intern serves to support the wellness and success of the Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences’ program participants. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Promote the success of OIEE participants by supporting students in their living community and at program-sponsored activities.
  • Encourage and reinforce positive, considerate, and inclusive living, study, and social environments, helping to resolve student issues and group conflicts as they may arise.
  • Assist and/or lead special events including airport arrivals, departure days, welcome activities, team-building activities, etc.
  • Reside in the residence facility during program dates, serving as the main contact for participants and other staff during evenings and weekends.
  • Answer the emergency line and respond to student concerns and/or emergencies between 5:00 pm and 8:00 am Monday through Friday, and on the weekends during program dates.
  • Hold regular office hours and assist with the planning and implementation of programs during non-program times.

Program Assistants

We are not currently accepting applications for the Program Assistant (PA) position. We generally recruit new PA’s in March/April for the upcoming summer/academic year. If interested in applying for the summer 2020 and 2020-2021 academic year, please email Rachel Ladenheim at rladenhe@uncc.edu to express your interest.

Our one-of-a-kind programs are made possible by our PA team. PAs are full-time, undergraduate and graduate UNC Charlotte students.

As a PA, you will serve as the primary contact between OIEE staff and the participants. You will assist with various aspects of program preparation and implementation. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as a contact between the program participants and OIEE professional staff
  • Leading cultural and recreational activities
  • Assisting with program orientations and campus tours
  • Transporting participants in university vehicles
  • Interacting with program participants and addressing participants’ needs
  • Helping program instructors and OIEE professional staff in preparation and implementation of programs

Teach with OIEE:

Our custom programs require custom courses. These courses are taught by teachers and mentors with years of experience. If you are interested in teaching one of our custom courses, or would like more information on the types of coureses taught, please contact our office.

The Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences works closely with partners to create one-of-a-kind programs. If you are interested in becoming a partner or creating a custom designed program please contact our office. We work closely with our partners to make custom programs an unforgetable experience.
